MAJOR ROBERT EUGENE LOWE
USAFA Class of 1959
Robert Eugene Lowe was born in Massachusetts. Entering the newly established United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, he became a proud member of the historic Class of 1959—the Academy’s charter graduating class—where he served in Cadet Squadron 10. Upon graduating on June 3, 1959, with a Bachelor of Science degree, he chose to cross-commission into the United States Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant.
Following his initial military service and assignment with the United States Marine Corps through 1969, Robert transitioned into higher education to pursue a career in law. He attended the John Marshall Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1969.
Combining his technical background from the Air Force Academy with his legal expertise, Robert specialized in intellectual property and patent law. In 1974, he joined Litton Industries Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota, serving for a decade as Group Patent & Licensing Counsel. He subsequently moved to Houston, Texas, in 1984 as an attorney for Litton Resources Group.
In 1987, Robert became Chief Patent Counsel for Western Atlas International Inc. in Houston. He continued to advance in corporate legal executive leadership, serving as Vice President of Western Geophysical Co. in Houston from 1990 through 1999. Over his long career in patent law, he represented major corporate entities in significant intellectual property matters and Federal Circuit litigation.
